Working Remotely during COVID-19

30th September, 2020

The last 6 months has been extremely challenging for many businesses who have had to pivot or adapt in response to the restrictions imposed to control the spread of COVID-19.

While there have been many businesses that have been severely impacted and had to close, there have also been many businesses that have been able to continue to operate, albeit in a different mode.

We have learnt that:

  • Many businesses can operate with staff working remotely at home, and working from the office is no longer mandatory; and

  • Interstate and international travel by staff that was once considered critical for success is not that critical after all.

Technology has played a major role in keeping these businesses operating, with the use of online collaboration and communication tools becoming the norm. There are plenty of options available – including Microsoft Teams or Skype, Zoom, WebEx, Slack, JIRA and many more cloud-based services.

But it is not just about having the tools, it is also about having the right model and establishing an operating rhythm that keeps your team members connected, engaged, supported and productive.

Choosing the right approach, establishing that rhythm and selecting tools that suit your business can be difficult and quite daunting, so if you need advice based on actual real-life experience then please contact us, we would be pleased to assist.
